Your Role:

Are you someone who wants to level up in your career while working on some of the most exciting problems in the industry? As a distributed systems engineer, you’ll have a significant impact on the growth of our business through building and scaling our cloud telemetry platform. We look for competent and committed candidates to the SolarWinds mission and display exemplary attitudes.

We’ve built our telemetry platform on Kafka, and Clickhouse, and work primarily in Kotlin and Go. We use Git/GitHub to manage & review code, communicate over Slack, push code to production via our ChatOps bot, and run all production applications on AWS, and Azure. We are a distributed team committed to a healthy work/life balance and prefer asynchronous communication to meetings. Your Impact:

Design scalable solutions that enable elegant and straightforward management of complex distributed systems
Devise strategies to ingest, store, and analyze terabytes of observability data per day on multiple cloud providers
Drive adoption of the SolarWinds cloud telemetry platform by collaborating closely with application engineers across the company
Modernize how we handle telemetry data by investing in open standards such as OpenTelemetry

Your Experience:

You are adept at working with a high-performing team to build modern distributed systems. You care deeply about developer experience and expect to iterate as we work towards performance goals and find the proper ergonomics for application developers using our platform.

4+ years of experience with building and operating distributed systems
Familiarity and skill with concurrency primitives
Fluent in at least one statically-typed language like Kotlin, Java, Go, C++
Devoted to software engineering best practices, including agile development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting
Ability to execute plans and act with urgency
Agile with a collaborative, curious, and inventive mindset
Demonstrates high emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and makes thoughtful recommendations
Understands customer focus and solutions
Driven to help others
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, Fluent Bit/FluentD, Zipkin, or OpenTelemetry a plus!
