Senior Director, Product Management – Database Observability

We’re seeking a Director of Product Management to lead our Database Monitoring portfolio. This is a high-impact, strategic role suited for a product leader with a blend of business ownership mindset, deep technical knowledge of databases (traditional and NoSQL), and a proven ability to drive product success across both on-prem and cloud-native environments.

About the Role 
As Sr. Director of Product Management for Database Monitoring, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution of our database observability products. From your position in product management, you will serve as the “GM” of your portfolio, with accountability for roadmap, market fit, week-to-week management of sales and marketing funnel, quarterly and annual revenue growth, and customer success. You’ll lead a team of PMs and collaborate closely with engineering, sales, customer success, and marketing to deliver best-in-class solutions and ARR growth for monitoring SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-managed database environments. Your strategic thinking and operational discipline will ensure we deliver high-value capabilities that meet the evolving needs of DBAs, developers, and IT leaders across industries. 

 
What You’ll Do 
• Define and execute the product strategy for the Database Monitoring business line across SQL, NoSQL, and cloud databases 
• Act as “GM” of the Database Monitoring portfolio while directly owning market analysis, product roadmap, pricing, and competitive differentiation 
• Partner with sales, marketing and customer success to drive go-to-market strategies, revenue growth, and customer retention 
• Lead, mentor, and grow a small, high-performing team of product managers 
• Drive alignment with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, marketing, and support 
• Nurture a deep understanding of the database market, including customer needs, ecosystem trends, and technical innovation 
• Engage directly with customers, analysts, partners, the company Board of Directors and operational partners to gather feedback, validate strategy, and evangelize product vision 
• Ensure strong technical integration with SolarWinds’ Observability platform and seamless user experiences 

 
What We’re Looking For 
• 10+ years of B2B product management experience, with 5+ years managing a product management team  
• Strong technical background in traditional (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) databases 
• Proven track record of driving product-market fit, revenue growth, sales and marketing partnership, and successful product launches 
• Experience with database performance monitoring, diagnostics, and observability tools 
• Strong business acumen with the ability to make data-informed decisions on product investments and prioritization 
• Demonstrated success leading and scaling product teams in a fast-paced enterprise software environment 
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence across all levels of the organization 
• Passion for solving real customer problems with pragmatic, scalable solutions

 
Nice to Have 
• Experience with cloud-native database environments (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud Spanner) 
• Familiarity with modern observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) 
• Background in application performance management (APM) or full-stack monitoring 
• MBA or equivalent experience managing full product P&L
