Your Impact:
The Senior Principal Enterprise Architect leads the planning, design, and engineering of technical solutions related to our Business Applications (BizApps) division. The position will provide strategic advice and guidance to application teams across various business segments and must be highly skilled with broad, advanced technical experience. Works with various stakeholders to build an enterprise alignment around technology, standards, roadmaps, and terminology. Facilitates the creation of clear, concise, and easy to access technology standards for the department’s engineering teams. Clearly communicates and evangelizes the value associated with adhering to prescribed strategies and corresponding standards. Creates visibility and awareness regarding gaps between current state architecture versus future state, and advocates for gaps to be filled.
In this role, the candidate will consult and guide stakeholders and application development teams throughout the entire project lifecycle. They will provide architectural planning for the introduction and/or modification of systems running in both IaaS and PaaS cloud environments. They will work with senior executives to develop and drive segment-specific, and/or enterprise-wide functional strategies, and will advise the business with respect to various program functions and their associated progress.
The ideal candidate will champion application and infrastructural security, architectural governance processes, and Enterprise Architecture (EA) intake methodologies. They will lead efforts to identify and evaluate emerging and disruptive technologies that will evolve the enterprise’s back and front office system landscape. They will also provide thought leadership with respect to industry trends, and technical guidance in developing the company’s future state architecture.
Your Experience:
- 12+ years total of IT, coding, architectural or other hands-on systems delivery experience
- 8+ years of application development / engineering experience
- 4+ years of application architecture / leadership experience
- 5+ years of large program delivery experience
- Minimum of 3 large scale application modernization / technology transformation program deliveries inclusive of on-prem, public cloud, private cloud and/or Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions.
- Technical experience must include use of SQL/NoSQL databases, Java/.NET, microservices, service mesh topologies, relational data modeling, OOP design patterns, data architecture (document, relational and graph), UML, API Management Platforms, high-availability/resilience design, distributed computing, CAP theorem / eventual consistency methodologies, service bus topologies, distributed computing techniques, etc.
- TOGAF certification, ITIL V3 certified or higher preferred
- Design, develop & maintain the Business Applications (BizApps) future state strategy and associated roadmap.
- Collaborate with the division’s users to provide technical guidance, and assist with capturing all necessary business, functional and technical requirements as necessary.
- Develop & maintain the data contracts for the division to ensure that services, applications, software, and infrastructure can all be represented effectively.
- Plan, design and implement the division’s taxonomy, processes, policies, procedures with respect to system change management.
- Develop guidance, standards, and patterns to ensure that data validity, completeness, consistency, reliability, and integrity.
- Identify, verify, and architect the federation of data that will comprise all Business Applications (BizApps) systems including external sources.
- Develop a range of documentation that describes the data model, the federation of data from external sources, the management and maintenance of Business Applications (BizApps) systems and the relevant roles and responsibilities, ensuring clear ownership and accountability.
- Lead ongoing changes and improvements to systems, including getting stakeholder alignment and agreement, and timely execution of technical changes.
- Conduct maturity assessments and gap analysis to identify areas for improvement in existing Business Applications (BizApps) processes.
- Recommend best practices with respect to infrastructural change management.
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of Business Applications (BizApps) processes.
- Regularly report on KPIs to stakeholders, highlighting areas of success and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of Business Applications (BizApps) processes with other IT and business functions.
- Contribute, coach, and support the IT Service Management teams on the division’s configuration, maintenance, and operation.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study and/or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Experience working in a complex, geographically distributed working environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence engineers, peers, and senior stakeholders.
